Chu Moy's modified Linkwitz crossfeed vs Jan Meier's natural crossfeed

Does anybody have any first-hand experience with both of these circuits? If so, could you please describe how you felt about them and if one was superior to the other?

Thanks

I've tried them both and the Ohman crossfeed too. I don't think you can call any of them superior to the others, crossfeed is, like much in this audio thing, purely a matter of personal preference: some people hate it, some people love it; some don't like the Ohman filter, some others don't like Linkwitz's implementation... I think you get the point... you'll just have to try them and see which you like the most.

My personal preference goes to the Meier natural crossfeed with the values set to the highest degree of crossfeed. It's difficult describing how it feels, but I'll try. With the crossfeed the sound (again, TO MY EARS) moves slightly forward and acquires depth without losing much soundstage width; which is how I felt about the Ohman filter. In some solo cello or piano recordings, without the crossfeed it was as if I were watching a stereogram where the images were not quite in the right place, thus generating some duplicated images and blurry vision; then when engaging the crossfeed it felt as if the images of the stereogram moved into the right place and the image got depth and 3-dimensionality. Don't think it'll make the sounds feel as if it came out of your head; they'll still come from within your head, but they feel more coherent, more integrated, there's more spatiality to the sound.

Also, at least in my case, the effect somehow improved after some time using it. It sounded good at first but after some days using it it felt better, more natural, as if my ears got used to the spatial information cues coming from the headphones. I also feel it's more effective with circumaural headphones than with IEM's.

Cheers !

Thank you. I'll build Meier's circuit first and then the others as time permits. Will add my own 2 cents if I can adequately convert my impressions into words.
