This may be a dumb question,. but did you reinstall the original firmware before you installed Rockbox? That's an essential step.


i did not. i thought rockbox will automatically take over the original firmware. where can i find the original firmware? i can't find it in the manual cd that comes up with the player

Ok, that's probably the problem then, here's the install page for the ihP120 and iHP140 http://download.rockbox.org/daily/manual/rockbox-iriverh100/rockbox-buildch2.html, see what they say in section 2.2.1.

Try installing the original firmware, then reinstall Rockbox.

you give me some hope! i'll try your advice later, i'm still waiting for my iriver charger to arrive

 

i'll report back my findings here..

 

by the way, do i install the original firmware in the CF card or i need to install it in the original hard drive first?

No idea, I've never dealt with that setup, but I'd try the HD first, that's where Rockbox is going to be installed, right?
