As for me, I have already succumbed to upgraditis and ordered a pair from HeadRoom today. I'll report back with my impressions. In the meantime . . .
yeah I am definitely excited to hook it all up, 1 more week till I am back in NY.

I think you will enjoy them immensely they def are the best "all around" cans I have ever heard.

Amen to that

The other nice thing was that my edition 8's came with a warranty card which allowed me to extend the warranty to 5 years which is pretty amazing I think. I would think it is included in all the boxes.

It's interesting to see so much positive feedback about the edition 8s.

I had the opportunity to listen to them for many hours and feel that Ultrasone should not be charging 800, much less 1500 for these headphones. Yes, I felt they were great closed headphones- better than most I've tried. However I didn't think they even competed against the likes of the hd800, O2, or K1000, all of which can be had for less than the ultrasones.

For the price point, I'd say the Pro 900 is a much better deal. Edition 8s just didn't do it for me.

Have never heard any of the three you mention (will do at the upcoming Copenhagen meet) but to me the Ed8 fares very well in comparison to GS-1000 and L3000 and much better than LA2000 so I wouldn't say that the price is unreasonable.

How much time have you got with the 900?
To me, Pro900 can't even touch ED8. It sound like typical studio monitor. ED is many times more musical.
For some such headphones tend to be highly musical

So the Edition 8 is more of a fun headphone then with more colouration or?
900 Pro would be good if... If not the bass issues and if not sibilance issues.
My pro 900 needs ethiopian sheepskin earpads and headband :[. Maybe it'll make it as musical as the edition headphones .
Well after my ear pad rolling on the german maestros I will not longer neglect the difference earpads may actually do. Though German sheeps would maybe do as well to win environment friendly points lol.

But nice we actually have some Pro 900 users that also got the ED 8. Did you try KeeS modding it? It helps a lot to tame the excessive bass quantity
post #73 of 103
Kees mod does indeed tame some excessive bass, but not enough. I did Kees, then removed it and modded mine with sorbotane pieces in strategic places inside the cup, and it helped bass a lot, but still bass in my 900's is not perfect. Although it is way better than the original ones.

Please let us know about your impressions when you get to copenhagen. I was planning on going to an Open Karate Tournament that was going to take place there in the same date but studies didn't let me.

I absolutely will although meet conditions are never ideal for properly judging a headphone
