I posted this review on the Fisher Hearing thread, but since I'm talking about Unique Melody's extra driver in these quads - I figure I should post here as well:
I just got my mod triple fi's from Fisher Hearing tonight. I'm LOVING them. Mine are different than most - since Unique Melody had previously added a mid driver, and I'd bought them from another forum member.
The look is imperfect, but still very good. I have translucent black IEM's with a clear faceplate. I see tool marks and the occasional odd bubble. But I look at them worn in the mirror - and the result is just awesome. The imperfections are not visible at all - they look great. I plan to put pics up this weekend.
What I wasn't expecting was the freaking outstanding seal. Based on comments from other forum members - I didn't think they'd seal as good as comply tips. Which I've used on other iem's. Also - the best seal I'd ever gotten was using silicon tips on the stock triple fi's. Until now.
These customs fit tight - and it took me a while to figure out how to push them in all the way. At that point, my very loud computer - can't be heard at all. Same with the fan in my bathroom. With comply's and silicones - the volume was reduced but not eliminated.
The sound quality is as great as I could possibly want. Keep in mind, mine are different than most.
The bass - probably because of my fit, the bass is outstanding - often startling at times. More than I need, perhaps more than I wanted. The mids are lush and intimate - now very much up front. The high's still sparkle - but so far they seem smoother, less prone to harshness with certain tracks.
The Re0 (going by memory) might be a hair more detailed - but for my needs, these are now superior in every other category. I can't even imagine what the new 6 driver triple fi's from Unique Melody must sound like.
By the way - my source is a new Ibasso D4 amp+DAC connected to my PC. I briefly owned a Govibe Petite - and I'm convinced the D4 is on a whole other level. I couldn't be happier with this amp+DAC. Even listening to the stock TF10's I have - the amp tightens the bass, and makes the mids sound more forward. Still slightly recessed, but almost not noticeable.
