Oh...I know. They told me they couldn't do it.

They told me that it was not possible and then quoted me the $159.00 to which I thought...ok.

A couple of emails later (with no other changes in what I asked for) and the price jacks up to $996.00 USD.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Shure SE530 Sound Isolating Earphones
Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5 Extended Bass Noise Isolating Earphones (Black)
JAYS q-JAYS Dual Armature In-Ear Earphones (White)

Are you still going for the JH13s then or are you waiting for the 16s?

Honestly...at this point in time...I really don't know. I want to give UM the benefit of the doubt and have written them back to see if it was a typo or misunderstanding.

Why don't you just order the Mages (4 drivers) for $575 or wait for the 6 driver custom. I wouldn't think that would be any more than $700. Considering the craftsmanship of their work compared to everyone else, you can trust they know what they're doing. If they put that much detail and care into their shells, I can only imagine how precisely they tune their monitors and construct the inside. I don't think any other monitor company sends frequency response graphs so you can see just how your monitors perform in each shell.

I sure hope the trend stays that way when they make mine after the long CNY break... =[

Well - there was no typo. $996USD.

I think UE doesn't send them but they do do it. When I picked up my UE-10's I saw them take a snap shot of each IEM's performance. However, this was when Jerry was still there. I can only assume Jerry still kept that practice as well as UE.

I would have to hear them first. As it stands right now, I think the JH13's will be the ones I will get.

However, I might still contact UM about a remold. We shall see.

Again, ask Jerry to do that and then let us know how long he laughs at your request.

I don't intend to ask Jerry about it because he clearly has a set product with an amazing reputation and clearly stated prices.

What does flat response and the deviation mean? I am not making fun, just curious of my options.

A flat response would ideally be no gain or loss whatsoever across the frequency spectrum. As close to 0 dB as possible and the deviation would be +/- 1.5 dB from the reference of 0 dB. Take a look at a frequency graph for an Etymotic ER-4S:
