Apparently I was one of the first people to know about the tf18 and now I seem to be the last to get it ... This just rocks .. Really...

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Shure SE530 Sound Isolating Earphones
Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5 Extended Bass Noise Isolating Earphones (Black)
JAYS q-JAYS Dual Armature In-Ear Earphones (White)

Got word this AM that my SE530 6 driver upgrades will be here Friday. Looking forward to them!

Thats awesome, we can do a shootout of the tf18 and Shure 6 driver now then haha.

Rip, don't worry about the ue700 drivers, according to mouldy maodi the difference is only a TINNNYYYY bit, imo not worth the usd 200 dollar price, so you can be satisfied with your current ones !

Well that's a relief. I feel better now about my decision. Time to listen to the TF18 some more
post #1164 of 2961
the only reason maodi decided to go with the ue700 was cause it suit the function of adding a proper high orientated pair of drivers to the tf18 and that he had an extra pair of ue700s lying around :P

lion, at least one of the first to make an order with it :P

I was given this for a USD pricing: for my TF10
Quote:
1,we can upgrad tf10 to quad driver custom ,it cost usd274(with shipping back).
2,we can upgrade tf10 to six or eight drivers custom.it cost usd464,usd750 respetively.
So, yeah almost a double jump from 6 to 8.
lol what the hell the price went up LOL!
If you got the TF10's on sale for $100 USD and got the 8 driver upgrade from UM for $750 USD, for a grand total of $850 USD, it is still cheaper than the competition. The UE18 and JH16. $1350 USD for the UE18 and $1149 USD for the JH16.

So..... $160 (I didnt get mine on sale )plus $464= $624 for what is being touted as a top tier custom IEM, even with a really nice cable that is a good deal. Especially considering it is IMHO the best looking custom offered. While I know SQ is far and away all that matters, I would hate to spend $1100+on something that looked anything less than the UM quality, and in that reguard I think UM has set a benchmark.
I would still like to see a few impartial reveiws of the TF-18 or TF-xx(8 driver beast) compaired to the JH-13, UE-18, JH-16, etc. While I respect MaoDi's assesment, unless I missed something, I dont think he has directly compaired his TF-18 to any of them?
But even still it would better to get a larger pool of reveiwers, the more ears the better.
I have a feeling though that should such a comparison take place ( and it surely will ), the end result will still be a statement like " they are all exellent and have distict sound signatures.......deciding witch one is best will be up to your own personal preferances..."
However, if that is the case, it will be hard not to throw the TF-18 out as the clear winner for value.

Sigh... now to figure out how to get a day off work and schedule for some impressions...

It would be nice to see someone with a JH13 and a TF18 but I think there would be very few people getting both of them if anyone at all. The personal preferences comment is spot on. I believe that a person who enjoys the Etymotic and Phonak sound signature would appreciate the Mage more than the TF18...

I would love to see a review on these custom drivers but as the post above mentions not too many people if any have them. MaoDi has the TF18 but I dont believe the JH13. The newest customs by JHA and UE are not yet out and to my knowledge only Jude will be having those two once he gets the package from one of them if he hasn't already received them both.
