The above post -Or- sell ur broken RE0s to me, and maybe i'll get something good out of them for me.

 

i dont understand, reviews say the ZEROs and the 0s are very similar, why then am i missing my 0s?

what say guys? should i get my 0s and return them back?

Sounding like $10 earbuds out of the box?  I found mine to be a big improvement over FX300 and EP-830 out of the box, more so after >100 hours.  FX300 is no cheap pushover.

 

0 tends to sound a bit more natural compared to ZERO, it is also bassier.  The latter sports some mild peakiness/harshness in the upper mids as well as slightly less treble and slightly less extension at the extremes.  You can't go wrong with either, but if you miss RE0, get it back.  =]

 

Or you can own both, like me.

I think if you love the RE0's the Re-zero or even Re252 imho wouldnt be an upgrade.  I owned both after owning an RE0 and was disappointed.  This is the 4th time Ive owned an Re0 and I think I'm sticking with it as a solid out and about phone, as I have found none better in the price range.  I am on team treble though, and I love the detail and clarity its really amazing.

I was VERY disappointed with the sound from the 0's. After about 2 secs of them being in my ears i knew they were going back. 

sell them to me! or i'll trade you fischer audio's silver bullet for them!

Hi guys, I have been very impressed with peoples' opinions of the RE0s and am considering purchasing a pair. However, the supposed lack of bass is a slight concern. Basically (I know its a cliche) but I have a reasonably wide music taste. I listen to a lot of acoustic singer/songwriter music (Elliott Smith, Bon Iver etc) as well as general 'rock' (from the Beatles, Bob Dylan to The Strokes, RHCP, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Shins etc) I also listen to a fair amount of hip hop (nas, 2pac, Biggie, Immortal Technique, Kanye West). I certainly would not consider myself a 'basshead' , I can appreciate clarity but I do need a decent level of volume to be satisfied. Do you think the RE0s will be suitable for myself? Also, bear in mind my source is not the highest quality - 5th generation ipod classic 80gb (I would be willing to purchase a portable amp if absolutely necessary)

Get the Minibox-ES + free RE0 combo at Head-Direct.  The Minibox is an excellent companion for RE0, keeping it from sounding cold as well as bringing out its potential.  It is a mildly warm amp and a bit bassy, you won't find the 0 (or ZERO) as bass-light out of it.  Also, burn-in helps.  Minibox-E+, the previous version, has a really good bass boost instead of a gain switch like ES, you may be able to find it used for less.

Recabling the re0 is a great option! I read up somwhere a memeber find recabling the re0 ($90) with a $40 ES cable to be unsettling. I just happen to have three, so I figured it is worth a try, and I am very happy with the result.

 

I am a bliever that cables make a difference on SQ. Although not night and day, but I think it could be like 5% to 15% . I tried the ES cable with Superfi5pro and hear some interesting results, and I bought some custom cables(Aurora) and hear a greater improvement. So I believe in recabling.

 

I personally think RE0 is fantastic sounding and it's one of the best deals out there in all classes of IEMs category.. However, why did they keep dropping their prices? My answer was poor quality control, and sub-par workmanship. The stock cable, in my opinion, is a piece of crap!! The strain-relieft design isn't that much better either. Both my ears went out after less that 50 hours of usage. (I have been using RE0 as back-up IEMs) As I expected. I think the original stock cable is a weak link. After recabling with ES cable they sound good! They feel more comfortable, and overall it's just excellent!

 

However, if you guys are considering to replace the RE0's cable with ES cable, you would have to remove the strain-relief as the ES cable won't go through it. Also,.. once open the chasis, you will have to be more creative with making your own strain-relief inside. Mine was done with a tight knot, and a little piece of plastic melted on the side of the cable. Anyways... good luck.

Ok... I finally got in my re0s!!! :D

 

 

Only good in ears I have tested include CX500 and Turbines.. On the other hand, I got the re0s coming from Turbine Pro Coppers(yes I know hate all you want against monster but I have to defend that the coppers are still decent IEMs). Now, I would have said that they were great(coppers) but I only said they were decent after listening to the RE0s. The clarity of RE0s are just.. wow... and the instrument separation! =P I have to agree with the lack of bass though I countered it with an E5 with bass boost and am still in the process of burning them in :D 

 

I love the smaller bi flange tips :D but I agree with there being a slight "itch" when wearing them. I think it's the patterned design's contact to the ear.

 

There's so many things in the background of my music that I'm hearing only now so I'm really loving these RE0s :D 

 

BTW, the pair I got have these sort of 45 degree angled jack.. is this supposed to be the new one or the old one? 

 

Anyway, it's only been around 13 hours of burn in so the slight sibilance I detect should hopefully disappear.
