I really like the looks of the headband actually. I wish I knew how to do that, because if you applied some form of engraving in the aluminum sheet it would kick some serious ass!

The best mod I ever did to my 650s and 600s was to get them a quality amp and source. I tried the defoaming mod, have had four aftermarket cables (like RnB G52, Equinox, and an n_maher diy, and hated the Zu), all trying to tighten up the bottom a bit and give them a bit more speed. Once I found the right amp, they sounded better with the foam and a recable.

I'm sure a lot of us are curious about what the amp and source were that you used. Care to share?

I'm officially giving you permission to post slightly off topic in my thread.

A tweaked SP Extreme Platinum (mine sounds and works great daily, but I'd sadly never recommend it with what's come to light) is the best single-ended amp I've heard with the Senn 6X0s, and it also serves as a preamp to my FirstWatt F1 in my speaker rig. My source is an Exemplar modded Denon 2900, which, if anyone's looking for a great bang-for-the-buck source, you really can't beat the sound-price ratio if picking one up used on audiogon.

....I don't know what you just said, but it sounded impressive.

Kidding.

This worked for me. Other than this, I leave my headphones intact and enjoy them for what they're worth.

yeh im trying to get my soldering exp. to level 3
so modded a pair of Sennheiser hd 202 that were given to me by a friend. she dropped a hairstraightener on the half the cable so it kept cutting out on one ear + it was 3 metres long!
So i repaired them today. and removed the Y junction and did a single side cable mod... if thats what its even called =D

this is just practice for what im gonna do to my ms-1s. I HAVE BIG PLANS! =D

Cool! I hadn't even thought of modding the 202's--and usually people are changing their single-entry cables to double. Looks like this makes a conveniently light/"handle-able" set of 'phones even more convenient.

And that's a very clean-looking mod, by the way. Good job!

Hey guys, I picked up a pair of Sennheiser 202's for like $15. The only problem is that the cups are deep enough so the plastic hits the top of my ears so they are uncomfortable. I semi-solved the problem by rolling up a kleenex and stuffing it under the cup padding.

I was just wondering if you guys had any suggestions on how to solve this without it being so tacky?
