Classic rock albums

Thread Starter
I'm always looking for some classic rock albums. Does anyone have any good suggestions? There has to be some I've overlooked all these years.

I'd say my pick of the day would have to be a little more old school... Amazon.com has these great deals where they promote band's albums and sell them at a really discounted price. John Fogerty's album just came out today and Amazon had a special up for it yesterday. My dad always listened to Creedence Clearwater Revival when I was growing up, and I grew to like his voice. So, I picked up the album. If you're lucky, it will still be up: Amazon.com: The Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again: John Fogerty: MP3 Downloads

run, don't walk, to pick up a copy of Big Star - #1 Record. As a bonus, you'll probably get their nearly-as-good sophomore effort, Radio City, on the same CD.

two of the best American rock albums of all time. 1972, straight outta Memphis.

OK Vic, there were only 3 copies of the SACD version left at Ammy, so I grabbed one with 2-day 1-click. My wife said "no more CDs until 2010", so this music better be good enough to get divorced over.

The reviewers there agreed with you, btw.

Have you heard Lynyrd Skynyrd's Pronounced Leh-nerd Skeh-nerd? Or how about Moby Grape? I'm hampered by not knowing how extensive your current collection is.

Of the chance I learned about this in 73 the same year we learned to roll-our-own. It is not my favorite but a true classic.

Other classics from the time included were Rocks by Arrowsmith
Moontan by Golden Earing
Led Zep 1, Led Zep 4

This thread is just so general...you could list hundreds, or thousands of great albums....

I haven't seen any Chicago listed yet...

Chicago II

I recommend those to start with. Then check out V and VII.

Kansas - Leftoverture, Point of Know Return
Yes - The Yes Album, Close to the Edge

a worthy impulse buy. and if you have to choose between Big Star and your wife... well, their third album is about as perfect a misery-record as you'll find to help you drown your sorrows, so pick that one up too.
