Do I need a bank account connected to receive money on Paypal?

I have an account, but no credit card or bank account connected to it. Can I still receive payment and then get it from my bank account if I connect it later?

How do you receive payment and get it from your bank account? Do you mean put it into your bank account?

Paypal can write you a check but there are fees connected to that. The best way is to add a bank account to your paypal account so that you get a verified account and (also confirm your address while you're at it) you can deposit money directly into your bank account (no fees).

answer to OP's question: YES

the money will remain in paypal credit until you spend it or withdraw it via adding a bank account or Paypal check.

If you have no credit/debit card or bank account linked to your account, you can still accept money, but it's stuck in your account until you link something to it.

yes.

what I hate so much about paypal is that they force you to add a credit card, because if you wanna add money to your paypal from your bank account...they will take more or less 10 days to credit it! so they have the money 2 days later, they make it work for them for 1 week, and then they credit your account.

the way I see it, they wanna force you to add your CC infos to have more weight against the bricks & mortar banks....considering a lot of the money that goes through them is illegal I'm sure

otherwise, they're kind enough to accept that you link a bank account...but then they'll use your money for 1 week w/o compensating you.

and when you whine at their techsupport, they play stupid! "oh really? this can't be!"

if you wanna pay in a shop w/ paypal-express, they will never allow you to use your paypal balance if you didn't link a CC..they will only allow a delayed bank transfer, so they can use your money for 1 week for free.

paypal is the evil empire

The money just reside in your PayPal account until you withdraw, or spend them, later on.

every time i looked into it it says there are fees for putting money into my bank account... of course i just leave it in my paypal account because i'll eventually find something to spend it on

Adding funds with international credit card (without a linked bank account)?

I live out of USA and Paypal does not allow linking a bank account from my country to my profile.

So I am forced to link only my international credit card (Paypal has already verified my profile with credit card info).

I have tried to add funds to my account using such credit card, but there is only an option to add funds from a USA bank account, which I do not have.

Apparently, they will charge my credit card as soon as I buy something from an on-line store, with no need to add funds previously.

The problem is I want to buy something from headfiers living in USA.

Question: If I want to send money to another headfier without funds in my paypal, is there any delay? Will vendors receive cash immediately or they are going to wait one month for my credit card clearance?

I am asking this because there is always a warning within the classified ads: “Paypal accepted (cash only!)”. So I presume there must be a problem to send money without adding funds previously. Is there?

There is no delay. The main reason that "cash only" is requested is that the seller is charged an extra fee to process a credit card transaction.

A secondary reason might be that there are ways for a buyer to dispute and charge back a transaction through a credit card that don't exist with a cash transaction.

I try to always use a credit card and offer to pay the extra fee since I feel more comfortable this way.
