I'm replacing damping material in the casings of Stax Lambda cans(the outer part).
A Head-fizer suggested cotton gauze. How does one determine how much? Apart from silencing sound to outside world, what role does this play in audio dynamics for listener?

I note the lamda has fairly dense padding and the 404 has
virtually none, I have not experimented yet with padding,
pherhaps you should have a listen without before replacing with
new.
