Now to shell out for a good amp/DAC to match. I have an entry-level one (Yulong UA188). Any recommendations appreciated!
Also gotta start ripping all those CDs too.
But my wallet is feeling sorry because I couldn't resist picking up a HF1 I saw posted earlier today! Gulp.

There are others here who can be of more help than me when it comes to amp recommendations. You might want to do a search; there are several great threads with a ton of useful info.
This one is Skylab's exhaustive (to put it mildly) roundup of his portable amp reviews.
HeadphoneAddict has a thread focusing on the Travagans amps which seem to be very well regarded around here.
These are just the two that come to mind; they will get you started. There are many, many other reviews on the site, many of them vey well done and very informative.
As for CD ripping,
Exact Audio Copy is very popular with Head-fiers. I've been using it, and it is indeed very good. It's very powerful, but not especially user friendly. It will give you perfect rips, to pretty much any major format (wav, flac, mp3, ogg, etc) but it does present something of a learning curve. I've only been working with it for a short time, and I've been getting really superior-sounding results, but there is a lot I still don't know about its vast capabilties.
Oh, and it's free. I downloaded it from CNET's
Download.com.
