CCR is the greatest southern rock band of all time.  They are criminally underrated.  They are one of the best to ever lay something down on vinyl.

 

 

Modern?  Drive-By Truckers.

Warren Haynes and Govt. Mule is my current favorite. The man is one of the most soulful artists and can convey it both in verse and play. I'm a big cover fan and Mr. Haynes has some epics.
