Huh? SHM-CDs are regular CDs recorded on some polycarbonate plastic or something like that. There shouldn't be any issues, no? (I realize I'm not helpful and apologize, but perhaps somebody can set me straight.) They play normally in your CD player, right?

Do you mean .shn files (shorten (SHN) files)? Google shn and foobar and you should find some answers.

they were had the .ape tag so the monkey audio plugin was needed.

you couldn't play them bcoz they had the .ape extension, not because they were sourced from SHM-CDs

the .ape tag was kind of hard to find in these particular files(shm-cd tag was first)

ah I think I see

windows doesn't show extensions by default - you have to click properties or enable them by going to folder properties and show extensions for recognized files

Alt+F > Tools > Folder Options > View > Uncheck "Hide Extensions for known file types"
