I'm far from a professional (or skilled) musician, but I've written a few songs anyway for fun. The problem is that my lyrics always end up sucking hard... so, I figured why not try a collaboration this time
If any of you guys are feeling poetic... please share your talents and help me write some lyrics!
Even if you don't think you have any songwriting talent, I assure you, my own lyrical work is terrible and needs your help, so please share anything you think up.
Anyway, I made up a simple chord/melody skeleton a moment ago, you can listen to a quick 1 minute sample here:

Disclaimer: I'm asian so I can't sing well. also, I just rushed this recording in one take with my laptop mic, so don't expect a professional performance, it's just there to give you the gist of what I have so far
In the sample above, I'm playing chords for the verse twice, then the chorus once, then the verse one more time.
For the final song I'd like to have something simple (i.e. intro, verse1, chorus, verse2, chorus x2, outro)
The chords are:
verse:
D, Em, Bm, A
chorus:
D, A, Bm, A
G, A, Em, A
My original idea was to write something about spending too much money on headphones, and feeling kind of down, but then cheering up when you listen to your gear (yeah, you can see why the lyrics I write suck). So I was thinking that the verses could talk about how much my wallet is hurting, and then the chorus can talk about enjoying music. I'm kind of blanking out on words though...
Do you guys have any other ideas? Feel free to suggest changes to the chords/melodies too, not just lyrics. I'm open to anything. And, of course, you'll be credited
If I can put together a decent song, I'll find a friend with a decent mic and upload a (hopefully) listenable final product for you guys to enjoy
