Plus, it's not like the AMP3 is all that bad

I agree, get it right the first time. I'd rather not have issues like with the Amp3 Pro 1.

Who are the Studio I Recipients?

For those of you who have been chosen to receive a Studio I to evaluate, and for those of you who have been quick enough on the draw to purchase a Studio I, I am interested to know who you are.

oh i didnt think to check to see if it were available on his site.
Anyone know what the difference between the pro1 and pro2 are, though?
pro2 was supposed to have reduced hiss, flac support, and up to 16gb expandable, but it appears that thats what the firmware update of the pro1 is supposed to accomplish as well.
Are the pro1 and pro2 in essence the same thing?

One difference between the Pro.1 and the Pro.2 that the Firmware update of the Pro.1 cannot provide is that the Pro.2 has a new button on it. I haven't read what functions are mapped to that new button, but, in Play Mode, when all of the +, -, <, > are mapped to functions and the center button has short and long presses mapped to different functions, an additional function (hypothetically speaking, like pop up one hierarchical level) needs another button to press to invoke it.

Also the software is different as well!!

Yes, the software would likely be different (minimally to access and use the new button).
It seems to me that the questions being asked are:
a) What are those differences introduced by the AMP3-Pro.2?
b) Perhaps more to the point, what are the differences which introduce features in the AMP3-Pro.2 which go beyond what would be obtained by installing the new FW on an AMP3-Pro.1?

ah, an up one level button would be useful. I guess I'll wait for the pro2 to be released and find out more about it.

Is the price expected to go any higher any time soon?

My mention of an "up one level" function was purely a hypothetical example. I have no basis on which to say, at this time, whether that function is one that is mapped to the new button in the different software on the AMP3-Pro.2. As you say, we'll need to wait for the manual for the AMP3-Pro.2 to be released and find out more about it.
