I do not have all of the details yet, however here is a teaser.

Amp3 Pro2

*Supports FLAC!!
*Supports up to a 16GB MicroSD Card
*Bug Fixes (more details will follow)
*Greatly Reduced or Fully Reduced Hiss...
Some fixes include the startup time, battery issue....
*New front Buttons
*A few cosmetic changes. More details to come.
*Improved Sound Quality...

All for only $159!!

They will be in stock within 10-14 days. If you order on my site, I will keep the $149 price for the next 3 days, than the price will go up!!

Now onto the next release; STUDIO I

This takes it to the next level. This is designed to be used as a portable amp versus a DAP, However it will carry some of the features like:

*16GB MicroSD
*8GB onboard memory
*MUCH higher SQ than the Amp3 line. This is design to complete with the many home rigs.

What is be unique approach with this product in the sense that we, headfi'ers, will participate in help designing the next released model. So we can actual take part in providing feedback on how to improve on the STUDIO I and in turn, launch the STUDIO II.

There will be 3 headfi'ers that will receive the new amp/DAP and they will post their opinions. I encourage others to add their 2 cents as well. In addition, a few more will be available to purchase for $349. There will be LIMITED stock and I'm sure once the details on buying the STUDIO I are released, they will go quick. Also please understand this is not a prototype model. We are taking a different approach where myself and hisoundaudio will read everyone's opinions and then make the appropriate recommendations on what changes are needed for the STUDIO II. From what I hear, this could shake a few things up a bit.

Lots more details will be released on this product. This will also be available in 10-14 days. There will be no pre-orders, however if you are interested please let me know since they will go very quickly.

Thanks for everyone who made the Amp3 so successful!!

Help with amp3

Dear Friends
I Have one (hoppe not silly) doubt about the symbol in the screen on the amp3:

- When I choose the normal play mode, what symbol should be in the sreen?
A small "white" square with an arrow inside?

- Last doubt: is there two types of reset in the amp3? If so when I make the reset I will loose all data?

Kind regards
Paulo

Yes, the Normal play mode is indicated by a white square containing an arrow that looks like the letter "U" lying on its side. "Repeat All" mode is represented by the arrow symbol being closed, like a circle, while the "Random" play mode has the same circle as "Repeat All" only with the letter "R" inside the circle. "Repeat One" will have the same circle arrow with the number "1" in the circle.

There is only one way to do a hard reset, that is by inserting a small object like the end of a paper clip into the small hole that is between the 2 inputs. It is labelled "Reset". Normally, the only time you will need to do a Reset is if the player locks up or during a firmware update.

You will not lose any of your internal data. The only way that you will lose data is if you reformat the device while attached to your computer via the USB input.

The firmware updater also has a check box for formatting the player when updating the firmware. This should be done during all updates. Removing your external card will prevent the data from being lost from it during a reformat.

A mysterious new member, transloader, has posted an announcement on the Amp3 thread saying that the Studio I will be out in two months and that HSA will also fix all the "issues bugs" on the Amp3. Anyway, it was the new member's first post, and Shigzeo surmised, probably rightly so, that it may be an official HSA rep (Jack Fu?).

Either way, it was a brief post. Not sure if Craig knows about it, but it's there. If it is official, then that means two more months for the Studio release.

Of course, it could just be some merry prankster at work. I've no doubt that Craig is working hard to make the Studio I a reality, and to ensure any new Amp3 releases are not in need of immediate firmware updates. Just have to wonder who posted that informational message.

sounds like it's true

The Studio will not be months...

The recent "version" was not acceptable. A new closure was made so yes there is a delay. I hate putting dates on products that are being developed especially since issues on current products are being worked on. I'm working with them on a way to provide a "thank you" gift for those who have pre-ordered. More to come...

This should not take months to have the Studio released. However everyone really wants this to be a good as expected. Of course with a new product, some issues may arise, but thats why the headfi community will hell us identify these issues. All of the posting are view and taking into account when making a new product.

So dates are being looked at, but months should not be accurate at this point.

Excellent.

Craig,

sorry for bringing the issue here in this forum, but somehow I couldn't reach you on your email. Few weeks ago you mentioned in email that AMP3 PRO2 I had sent back to you was indeed faulty and that you have been sending replacement. Unfortunately, nothing came by now. Not even notification.

BTW, you're providing great support here and I like that very much.

Thanks!

Great to hear from you Santa Craig This is good news, for awhile there I thought we were going to have to start calling you "Easter Craig". I'm sure the extra time they put in will be worth it for a better finished product. Thanks all your effort, keep us informed please!

Another retailer (won't mention who) is providing customers with an extra battery to compensate for their unusually long wait. Does the Studio have a replaceable battery I wonder?

SQ

I take it all back. I had to use my ipod today as the battery on my AMP3 was flat, (still waiting for a replacement), and the sound was well - mushy. I had got so used to the AMP3 that it was noticable how poor the ipod classic was. Although after about fifteen minutes my brain had got used to it and it didn't seem half bad again.
With my battery recharged I wandered around town tonight listening to Portishead on the AMP3 - bliss!

Good story.

Mushy - good word to describe the difference.
