Jack says the output will be an 1/8" which is disappointing since they claim they compete with fullsize systems for full size headphones but... Hopefully they will do some justice to HD650s or other high impedance phones.
Well of course it doesn't have a 1/4". That takes up a LOT more space than a 1/8" plug. Heck a 1/4" plug is half the length of an amp3. I didn't imagine the studio being too much larger than the amp3 for some reason. How much bigger is it?

Now that I have heard the AMP3 pro2 for myself (listening to it as I type this), I am very much looking forward to reading what people have to say about the studio.

I'm sure Craig would gladly recable whatever headphone you want with a 1/8" jack

=/ I have 1/4" to 1/8" adapters, and 1/8" to 1/4" adapters. The problem is that a mini plug has far less surface area than a 1/4" and is there for not as effectively amped. I honesty don't see why anyone looking to use full size headphones would care about an extra half centimetre of width on their amp.

That said, I'll make my final judgments when I compare the Studio to my home system (which is pretty antique so it should be a fair fight).

Quality adapters in my opinion are pretty expensive. The kind that just clip on the end of the headphone jack puts too much pressure on the input of the device and I avoid those kind completely.

Still no sign of my AMP3 Pro2 which Craig sent via USPS Express Mail on Monday 5th. It is now Fri 9th and the status has not changed in over 4 days.

Label/Receipt Number: ECXX XXXX XXXU S

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on October 5, 2009 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Something is clearly wrong.

Wow Anadin that sucks, I so know how you feel, having bought many many many products from the usa myself, I just HATE postal service in general and the Dutch one especially. And dont start on the customs office.
I guess you will get it sometime next week.
Greetings, Anouk,

Hence the convenience of a 1/4" jack. A mini to 1/4" puts virtually no pressure on the player, takes almost no extra space (the whole thing is inside the player) and is really simple to get along with.

Your logic is bizarre =/ I'm pretty sure recabling headphones (not to mention essentially downgrading them) would be much more expensive than an ordinary converter.

I think the surface area of a 1/8" miniplug is quite large when compared to the size of the traces and very small guage wire that carries the audio signal from the device components to the output jack. I doubt that there is any measurable loss of signal quality or quantity of that of a 1/4" stereo phone plug.
My opinion only.

Hm. The cables are thicker too, but you may be right. I've been looking around for information comparing 1/8" to 1/4" and I can't find any. The only apparent thing is that they are obviously more durable than mini plugs.

I dunno. It just made sense in my head that the more metal to conduct, the more voltage that would be running to power the phones. I won't preach it unless I can find some tests that show that though.

Completely correct. The important thing is the material of the actual contact, as there are many options. The best IMO is copper contacts with silver plating, however gold plating is fine also. But if the contact is made from phosphor bronze the conductivity can be cut to well less than half pure copper (with only a 5 to 8% mix of other metals).
You mind showing me the source that convinced you of that? I feel like we're all playing guessing games here =/ The thing about 1/4" being the same as 1/8", not the contact shenanigans.

Convinced who of what? And contact shenanigans? I am not following 100%
