OK Computer vs. Grace - Page 3

It does make for an interesting choice, because in my view if we were looking for the "greatest" album of the nineties, these would be two strong candidates (along, I suppose, with Nevermind, although that one wouldn't be so much to my taste).

As time goes on, though, Grace seems less remarkable, while OK Computer is fast becoming a strong candidate for the top ten of all-time albums, so that was my vote.

I am wondering, what makes OK computer so influential? I just don't get it.

Hmmm...nice choice between two undisputed "10" albums

Personally, I listen to "Last Goodby" and 'Lover You Shouldve Come Over" MUCH more than any other single in OK Computer...

BUT, I listen to OK Computer AS A WHOLE ALBUM much more than I listen to Grace as an album.

That said, Im going with OK Computer.

If The Bends were in the choices, that would be my hands-down choice that is my 10 among 10s album.

Honestly, my guess is that you're either older than 30, or younger than 20. Am I off?

Exactly, I pretty much listen to this like that, if I'm listening to Ok Computer I'm shedding the time for it, and really sitting or laying down and giving the full album a listen. I just feel for such a piece, that is the only way to really experience it.

Agreed again, I think the Bends is actually just as good as Ok Computer, different but equally good. And I mean just that, neighter is better, equally good~

You are right. Let me be honest, I do like some Radiohead. OK Computer is a pretty good cd, but I just don't get the big deal in general about the band. I like Kid A maybe the best and In Rainbows is good but I just think they are just an ok band. I know I am in the minority here. I really like how Brad Mehldau(jazz pianist) does Radiohead songs better than than actually Radiohead, his version of Exit Music(For a Film) is quite beautiful. I realize that the band actually wrote the song so I see the value in their music. Just as a whole, Radiohead doesn't do much for me. It was just interesting to see so many people that are in love them.

I think that the big deal about OK Computer is this.

There are some albums, like Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols, or Nevermind, or Sgt. Pepper, where we can look back upon them and say that they will always be important because they changed the musical landscape.

But there are also albums such as Dark Side Of The Moon and Who's Next where you just have to say that what distinguish them is not their influence but their inherent quality.

With Radiohead you can say that other bands (such as Coldplay) were influenced by them, but you can't say that anyone has really produced anything like that particular album.

The only thing it's got going for it is that it's great.

Now watch it! I'm well over 30 and think OK Computer is a masterpiece.
