Symphony -x appreciation thread! - Page 2

Not my favorite prog metal band, but definitely a perfect example of good prog metal. Fantastic instrumentalists (specially Michael Romeo), great singer and damn good records.

If I had to pick a favorite album I'd probably say V ... but then again I might give a different answer on a different day.

i wonder when they gonna release a new album. I never heard any other prog metal band that does exactly the same music style as they do. but what band are the closests? prog metal is not my strongest side...and that's mainly because I discovered SX and never found something better.
pure euphoria if you ask me

I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but the self-titled album from Time Requiem is ridiculously similar to Symphony X. Kind of a cross between V and Divine Wings of Tragedy, but with a much heavier keyboard presence and way, way faster.

Personally, at times I think they do the neoclassical prog/power thing better than SX, but either way it's impossible for a SX fan to not love this album - so you might as well pick it up.
