Skullcandy Hesh or Agent?

I know, I know skullcandies arent that great, maybe you even hate them, but this is the only place where i can get good responses related to audio quality. Well i cant really choose other full sized headphones cuz bro bought me some lowriders and they broke. So i get 50% any other skullcandy so im limited to these cuz of price range and my preference. So hopefully this doesnt totally fail, and some people actually own one or both of these on this site. Which one sounds better? Comfort? Personal preference?, anything other than looks anything that can help me choose, thanks.

Buy one half off and then sell it for profit. Then buy some headphones that actually sound good.

I'm gonna enjoy reading this thread

hmmmm sneaky! so that's how they keep people coming back!

If you can tell us how much you're willing to spend, maybe we can point you to another brand that'll sound better.

Trust me, you won't get any of us to recommend skullcandies. We have consciences. Noone on this site owns them.

Alpha, are you serious or simply trolling ? Mate, you would probably get more replies if you asked about Bose : at least there are *some* Head-Fiers who are prepared to accept that Bose make 'headphones', overpriced though they may be.

I cant believe that (other than those being paid to model/endorse them..) anyone over 15 would wear Skullcandy - to me, its the equivalent of buying a t-shirt from Target with the word 'Gnarly !' on it and parading down the High St. Please allow yourself a few more options - I have yet to see anyone who looks better with a pair of cans on their head than they did *before* placing said cans atop their noggin. Decent IEMs worn beneath a cap festooned with flaming skulls would give you the best of both worlds.

Skullcandy doesn't make headphones. They make fashion accessories.

Go find a fashion forum.

With the effect of making you look like a ********* that's listening to music.

It's the guy's first post, cut him some slack... besides, they are not fashion accessories. No fashionable person would ever wear those!

@the OP: Unless you are attached to the skullcandy look, just forget about it. For your 25 bucks get a Sennheiser HD-201, Koss KSC-75 (sportclip), or Koss Portapro. Those are gonna get you good sound for the price. You might have to look online for the Koss phones, but you can get the Senn at Best Buy or Guitar Center.

No need to go with excessive trashing, guys.

@OP, welcome to head-fi. I've not heard the Skullcandies in question, so have no comment, but the Koss KSC-75 or Koss Portapros are excellent recommendations for quality sound on a budget, and can be purchased quite cheaply online (both under $20 from amazon) or can be found at most Radio Shacks and Best Buy for around $25.

I might add that, for all the flaming they cop here, the aforementioned HD201 are reasonable VFM - not as good as KSC75s (how did Koss build these for the price ?), and not genuine portables, but much better isolation. The OP could definitely do worse ....

How?

How ? Oh, by spending several times the purchase price of the HD201 on a pair of Skullcandies that sound like a bassier version of the white buds they give you with an iPod. For the money, the KSC-75 is the best choice in terms of SQ, but not if isolation is also a requirement - just putting it out there. The 201s are bottom-drawer cans, no question, but I dont think they deserve the flaming they sometimes get here ....

Buy a Skullcandy you like the look of, rip out the drivers and replace them with those of a cheap Sennheiser or JVC of comparable build. So then you can be accepted in school without listening to crap sound

lollolol, thanks i guess , i knew i would get many ppl against, but to go so far as recomending me to buy one for 50%, then sell them, and THEN get a better pair, hahah i underestimated how this would go. Ive recently got into sound quality, and my first (and only since) attempt was buying the UHP 326, hopefully ppl can get context if they have used that,,,. Whatever, my point is i appreciate good sound, its just that i dont think skullcandies are as extremely horrible as u guys make it (bassier versions of ipod buds?!?!) and my bro got me the lowriders so i feel bad just leaving them ther, would rather get same or slightly better from the broken product 50% off policy so present is still ther.. But now that i think bout it ive tried some pretty awesome in ear, but i have never tried a high up full sized headphone.. i guess ill look into some of the suggestions and see what if anything is impressing... w/e apologize for my rant, i guess ill have to figure somethin out.
