I'm going to throw in Queens of the Stone Age - Queens of the Stone Age.  Josh Homme knows music.  Plain and simple.

John Mayer - Room For Squares

lots of good picks here, agree with a lot of them... but there's some big absences... namely Vic Chesnutt's 'Little'!, Elliot Smith's 'Roman Candle', and Kanye's 'College Dropout'; also Richard Thompson's 'Henry the Human Fly'... my personal favs would be (without really thinking through it):

Little

Grace

Dummy

Five Leaves Left

My Aim is True

Roman Candle

Velvet Underground

The Smiths

.....

also, a mention to Blonde Redhead's first album, not my favorite by any means but very good

originally I thought it was a no-brainer, since I forgot about Von... if Agaetis Byrjun was possible it would be hands down...

My 1st thoughts are: - The Doors - Santana - Are You Experienced - Black Sabbath. I'd have trouble narrowing it down to 1...
