I thought about that one as well when I was making up my mind.  Though I prefer Doggystyle by the slightest of margins, I simply couldn't ignore The Chronic and its impact on music.  That record changed everything.

New Radicals (eponymous). Not only was it their first album, but also the last. Incredible stuff...

Unfortunately everything after August was somewhat down hill.  I still listen to this album regularly.

"PLEASE PLEASE ME"------ The Beatles

In no particular order:

Portishead, Dummy

Tori Amos, Little Earthquakes

The Stone Roses

Rage Against The Machine

Phish, Junta

Kate Bush, The Kick Inside

Jeff Buckley, Grace

Most already mentioned, but I think this may be the first mention of the Phish album, which certainly deserves consideration.

I've been thinking about this today, and pulled a few out.

Danzig - Danzig

Blue Cheer - Vincebus Eruptum

ZZ Top - ZZ Top's First Album

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd

Napalm Death - Scum

Hank WIlliams Jr - & Friends (I know it's not his official debut, but it is his debut of being more than his fathers son)

Descendents - Milo Goes To College (if you don't count Fat, which was an EP)

Ramones - Ramones

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath

Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin

Van Halen - Van Halen

Guns N Roses - Appetite For Destruction

Rush - Rush

The Jam - In The City

Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden

A lot of rockers here =)

Of all the albums mentioned, I wonder which albums were most successful.

Maybe not one of the greatest debut's, but certainly the foreshadowing of the impact he was to have...
