Pretty much how I hear it, too.

I like it what´s mentioned too :). How well do the T1 stack up to the LCD-2 sound wise? Mine is still stuck in Germany. Don´t know if that Iceland volcanoe is still stopping flights :(

I think the LCD-2 is a little better overall than the T1, but it's early yet with the LCD-2, and I may just be enamored with it.  I will reserve judgment for now.  Certainly the T1 is not far behind, if in fact it is.

And the T1 is light years above the LCD-2 in terms of comfort.  It's also less picky of the partnering amplifier in some respects.

- "Proper reserves", to provide power when needed, is a simple matter of volume (i.e. "playing louder"). Peaks in your music are the same as the rest of your music, just at a higher level.

- I don't see how unused reserves should translate into better sound quality. Care to explain why that should be the case?

No Thanks. I am not willing to get into bizarre discussions. I learned my lessons before so you can believe what you want and I'll do the same so everybody is happy.

Skylab is LCD-2 heavy? Or is it just the handband/ cups pressure?

I don't know how much of the change was the fact going balanced or the high quality OCC copper cable.

The end result was more control, deeper and faster bass, sweeter mids and highs. One very important improvement for me was in the soundstaging. It got very detailed and holographic and also expanded in all directions. It'ss like buying a car that does 0-69 in 5 seconds, or has a top speed of 200 mph.

It's like having a car that does 200 mph or 0-60 in 5 seconds.

People ask "why you need that much power"?  When  entering a crowded highway, you are at the mid-range of the engine, or amplifier in this case, the power train doesn't have to use "everything it's got", at the middle of it's operating system, it's got power to spare without using the engine, or in this case, amp, to it's fullest potential, which is never a good thing.

Are you going to go to 2000mph? Maybe once, but it's so strong that the midrange performance has got what it need to do the job with ample power to spare.

Are you going to use 500 wpc? No, but at 10 watts your output sounds so dam good.

Pretty heavy, yes.

Magnets are heavy.

I think the control and soundstaging is result of going balanced since now they are receving double the power. The rest was done by the cable itself.

My T1 goes up next week to be recable with the Zeus HEX24 as well.  I hope it will be back in time for CanJam.

Audio Addcit - looking forward to your review of zeus recable!

Congratulations! You are going to love them even more.

Re-cabling the T1 to balanced, what amp/dac are you guys using/recommending?

I notice you recommend the V100 for unbalanced, what about the V181 for balanced?

You talk about beliefs, I don't. Hence the bizarre discussions ...

Just got my T1. But it will take a week at least until I will hear them properly amped on my auditor. They surely don´t sound crap out of my receiver very good actually. A bit warmish but that is at least partly due to my receiverso I think it will be very close to my preferences. It certainly is a low distortion devices you really have to monitor the volume by SPL metre with these. A bit surpriced they are so efficiant. Many of my low impedance high sensitivity headphones I have to crank up higher for the same DB.

The cable seem to set a world record on thickest cable ever. The headphones are a bit heavy by themselves too. I suppose it´s due to the magnet rather then the metal cups? Maybe they could have used magnesium like on the SA5000 otherwise . I think the metal on that one looks and feels nicer and it´s very light weight in comparison. The cable definiatly add to the weight. I am already being slightly annoyed by it´s pulling even if it´s certainly no deal breaker.

But well these heavy beasts will be good training for my neck muscles until I get a hold of the LCD-2.

Congratulation, have fun!

Which is an indicator of high output impedance (causes higher FR variations => "warmish") and/or lack of adequate current drive capability - as I posted on the previous page.

Also as noted before, sensitivity is pretty high and nearly reaches sensitivity of Denon cans - which the T 50 p will surpass.
