Beyerdynamic to launch new top headphone at IFA -- called T1 - Page 201

Assumed Jack White's involvement would basically mean all Grado, all the time. I have very little experience with Grado cans, but his style of rock would seem to be perfect for them. Am I right or is it as good on the T1s?

OFF TOPIC...
How's the weather up there in Manhattan Darren? Sorry, had to chime in when you mentioned Jack White and discovering you were a fellow Kansan all in the same post.

Carry on.

Phenomenal with my RS1s indecision, but still amazing with the T1s! That's what I really love about them (T1s), awesome last night with Miles Davis and equally impressive tonight with The Dead Weather.

The thing that bothers me the most regarding the cable is how it is split to go to the right and left drivers.  They left the slight rough edge on each cable split.  At least they could have used a Exacto knife for a smoother cut instead of hand ripping it apart

Holy crap, listening to Nirvana out of the RSA Raptor.  Not bad!

So do I, they could have done a better job on this part.

Personally I don't bother very much about the weight and size of the cable as it is lying near me and not pulling my head down as almost only the splitted end is in the air. Plus cable weight makes it not to move too much like a light one when moving a bit.

Boy you guys are, as my wife would put it, real picky pickykins. The cable weight is due to the thick gauge of the wire selected and that directly corresponds to sound quality. Would you prefer the hair thin Bose cables and crappy sound?

I do wish though that more headphone manufacturers would follow the Sennheiser model for the HD600/650/800 with plug and play upgradable headphone cables.

MacedonianHero, I just fired up my T1 cold out of the box and they are pretty decent I have to say, I drive them with a EF5 but guess this could be bettered a lot. What is your favorite amp for the T1s?

The EF5 is a very fine amp. I use the MAD Ear+HD tube amp and really like the pairing. They are also great with Woo amps!

I have listened to a pair of T1 with the Moon Audio Black Dragon and I re-cabled mine with the AphroditeCu29 Zeus cable. IMO in both cases the T1 sound better compared to the stock cable.

The sound is smoother and with more definition. The soundstage got a little bigger and more holographic and in the case of the Zeus they actually sound louder due to it's lower resistance.

I was close to sell the T1 before the new cable. I just could not get used to the sibliance I was hearing (maybe pesonal taste) and in my opinion a diffused soundstage. Now they are a keeper for sure. The only thing that still bother me is the pickiness of position in the head. You need to make sure you get it right and after that they pretty much stay put unless you move a lot.

Not including the HD800, I think that Senns used the worst plug designed in the world.  Very poor contact surface.  I had intermittent problems on two 600 and a few set of cables.  I got fed up, cut the plugs and soldered the cables directly to the drivers.

I never had an issue with my HD650s or my HD800s. I have not read many others complaints on the HD800s (but several on the HD600/650).

I would preferr something similar to Ultrasones solution. One sided and screw on connector. Easy and secure.I do hope I will get shipping confirmation on my T1 and Auditor soon :)
