So sorry guys!
I am much too tired to answer all of your questions right now. It's 1am here and I just got home.
I will do that as soon as I feel like having enough time.
Just a quick addition to the first impression. I went ahead and took my '03 DT880s with me (which I thing are better then the Edition models [including the Pros, which are basically Editions with higher clamping force - try it, that's really IT]) for an A/B comparison. What should I say...completely different beasts.
Where do I start...
Tonality. The T1 sounds more like a DT770 Edition with 600 Ohms than like a DT880. Really! Less warm, more treble presence and more bass volume. I own a DT770 600 so I know the differences between the two.
On the other hand it resolves a LOT better. And when comparing the soundstages in A/B the T1 wins easily. It's a different presentation that I seem not to be able to process as well but everything seems to be much further away. The DT880s were more intimate and the presentation was much more "in the head". But the T1's stage is also narrower at the same time which I also wrote in my first impression. But as I didn't have a direct comparison I wasn't able to realize that in deed everything plays much further away.
I wanted to try the T1 on my MP3-Player but it was not loud enough. It isn't the strongest player out there and I additionally decrease the volume of my MP3s to match the replaygain standard (well most of them had to be decreased to match 89dB in the average).
So it wasn't the fault of the T1. I know that I can power my DT880 from this player to a satisfying level when being in a silent environment. And on the A1 I had to crank up the volume a LOT higher when switching from T1 to the DT880s!
So it in deed IS a lot more efficient, despite it's 600 Ohms.
Maybe I will take my DT770 600s with me today for a comparison.
I can't promise, though. I feel like I already annoyed the beyer staff a lot more than I should have.
And once again I wanna stress that it is really loud there in the hall. Take everything with a grain of salt and listen to it yourself. I myself already ordered a press example.
It's a good thing I don't have to buy all the stuff that I want to hear! :P
