Beyerdynamic to launch new top headphone at IFA -- called T1 - Page 17

That's too bad about the bass. It sounds like the T1 is something that competes with the HD800 for neutrality& detail, but the HD800 has the slickest fastest deepest low end I've ever heard, no coloration. Perhaps it's the amp they demoed the T1 on?

The HD800s are really, really good headphones. But just not my cup of tea!

And if I was forced to choose between the two from what I have heard with these phones so far, I would gladly say "no, thanks", put on my DT880s and enjoy the music.

in regard to the question that prompted this quote, page 15.
sorry for the misinterpretation. did you mean you would choose the dt880 over the hd800 and the t1 or just over the hd800?

also, you are compairing the dt880 03. i feel the dt880 pro is a much better headhpone than the 03. i wish you had a dt880 pro you could compare.
anyhow, what i love mostly about the dt880 pro is their huge soundstage. so i would really have to hear the t1 before i just ordered it.

are these as neutral as the dt880? or do they add or subtract something?

thanks,

I think the T1 demo was on Beyer's amp. I listened to their amp at CanJam and it didn't make the DT880 sound anywhere as good as the DT880 is capable of sounding. I'd love to get impressions of the T1 on tubes.

if the T1 was voiced with the Beyer amp, having an output impedance of 100ohms, i would think an OTL tube amp would be a good place to start.

i can't wait to hear more impressions.

i don't know why companies don't make amps that suit their flagship headphones. would any one use the ra1 with the ps1000? it is a shame that he probably will not be able to demo them with a different amp.

i'm now thinking, beyer always comes with flagship line like dt770/880/990(at least since 2003) instead of one flagship model(ie ultrasone ed8 or 9). possible t2 and t3 coming?

...yes, I recall reading about the 100 ohm output impedance of the Beyer amp. That would explain the perceived «slow» bass.

The T1 earcups don't look as steeply rounded as the DT880/05--or am I just seeing things(?), hearkening back somewhat to the flattened DT880/03 earcups. (They look like a compromise between the DT880/2003 and 2005 models.)

My contention with the DT880/05 (250 ohm) was that they sacrificed treble extension with respect to the 2003 model. To me, the DT880/2005 sounded more like the mid-centric ATH-A900LTD than the DT880/2003; the 2005 model had lost that "glistening" and extended treble I had come to appreciate in the earlier model.

Suddenly November 15th seems like a LONG way off...this is going to be an agonizing wait...but it's been a long time since I had such anticipation about a new audio product, so it will be fun waiting at least

Thanks for the scouting report and images, m00hk00h. Any commentary on the T1's comfort/fit i.e., headband, earcups, clamping force, relative to the current crop of DT7/8/9xx phones?

Skylab, we'll be anxiously awaiting for you to receive the T1 and the epic review that follows!

I thought you said something similar about StageDAC - didn't you? I'm waiting for more reviews to emerge. If these impressions are positive, then I will have my first Beyer

11/15 ETA.

might as well forget about these for now.
Why? There was ample raving about HD800, before these actually were available for larger audience.

I look forward to hearing m00h's day 2 impressions. It will be interesting to hear the T1 compared to the DT880 out of the same amp!

true. I am all over these. I need to hurry up and case my DIY stuff. And get these and my HD800s. Curioius if these would be one or the other not both. I know closed, grado, open so which T1 or HD800 is the open mastah? -_-
