Looking for an upgrade

Hello,

I use an i7 and Grado's SR60. I'm very happy with these but am looking for an upgrade.

My budget would be in the 1000$ area.

I listen exclusively to metal (70-90s if that matters). I like Iaudio and Grado very much, best set I've had so far (including some much more expensive Shure in-ears), BUT I want to try new things, maybe less mainstreamy stuff. (talking about iaudio)

Also, size in not really an issue, though I usually walk in circles while listening to music. ()

Sound Quality is the only deciding factor here, don't need a massive HD or anything like that, and even format support is something I can compromise on. Also used is an option, I'm a huge fan of bang-for-buck.

So.. What should I look into?

I am confused what are you looking for ? earphone or DAP? your first sentence said you are looking for upgrade your earphones.

The end said you can compromise the format support.

If you are looking a decent DAP with BANG FOR BUCK, AMP3 is suitable for you.it priced at USD 149, plus you can get a decent player, + DAP + HI FI earphones.

Here is the comments on AMP3, you can chech to it and make your decision.

I'm looking for an upgrade to both!

I want a whole new portable set to enjoy my music, budget is like I said, don't care how, I just want to able to "wear" the stuff.

Will look into the AMP3 What should I get to complete the set?

Perhaps I should just get an amp like the P-51 Mustang for my i7 + grados?

Which would be better SQ wise, that or the AMP3 + some other (maybe) headphones?
