iriver h10 still a good value?

H10s are going now for under $50 at certain online stores, and my question to you is this: I've seen the H10 recommended in several places, would this still hold true in 2009?(i.e. are there no significantly better players that have popped up for the price?)

Also, would it be worth it to save up for several months and get an amp3 instead for 3 times the price or more?

The H10 is nothing to write home about. Aside from the color screen it's basically on par with a 1st gen ipod mini - because it's made out of almost all the same chips.

Get a refurbished fuze or something instead.

I find the h10's hp out very clean. though the mids are kinda recess. After listening to the h10 for extend periods, then switching to the meizu or clip I find the m6 mids warmer but more muddy. I compared my h10 with my friends gigabeat f20 and zune 30 once. Both are superior to the h10. (I especially liked his gigabeat)

The best quality of the h10 is the very crisp highs.

The only reason I bought the h10 was to diymod it one day the motherboard has point marked for for line out and there is plenty of room inside for caps. The iriver is slightly larger than an ipod and much heavier.

AMP3 is definitely worth to consider. with $149, you can get : 1, superior DAP, 2, an freebie integrated earphone amp. 3, hifi earphone 4, excellent FM radio, 5, 100hours-rate battery. AMP3 is the most cost effect DAP.

there are too many buyer can share their enjoyment with AMP3 everyday in headfi org, please refer to this pages:
