Really, Primus is the only artist I know of like this... any suggestions for consistently bass-centric artists?

Edgar Meyer is more of a double bassist, no? I quite like him And I don't know why I forgot Wooten, he's very cool.

I'm checkin out Jaco Pastorius right now, thanks for the rec.

Oops, I just re-read your thread title, and yup, Mr. Meyer is a bass fiddler, not a bass guitarist. He certainly is an amazing talent though.

By Primus, I assume you also mean the many side projects Les Claypool is involved in (Frog Brigade, Holy Mackerel, Col Claypool, etc).

Bill Laswell and all his projects (Material, Praxis, Solo)

Also, are interested in jazz? Some have been mentioned but there are tons more. William Parker comes to mind for the more adventurous (though he's stand-up).
