5800 with IE8?

How would this setup go? I currently have no DAP and I'm using my EX500 with the Nokia 5800 I have. I'm planning to buy an IE8, would the 5800 be a good pair with it?

I had the 5800 for three months, now I have the N97. They both sound the same (great), with ear phones.

I didn't have the IE8, when I had the 5800, but IE8 sounds really great with the N97, and are easy to drive. I'm sure they do to, with the 5800.

Does X1050 significantly better than N97/5800?

In the eye of the beholder, but I would hazard to guess yes. My N97 didn't compare favorably to the 3GS (one could say it was slaughtered), and I'd put it slightly below the audio reproduction proficiency of the Meizu M6 MiniPlayer SP (because the N97 has inferior driving power).

I had a 5800. To be blunt, you will be wasting a pair of Ie8's. IMHO.

So, will it be a waste to buy an IE8 if I'm only gonna use it with 5800? Can someone give a short comparison between the 5800 and the fuze? Is the fuze considerably better?

All I can tell you is that my iPod, which has a lousy rep on here, with a lod and amp, which you may well not want the bother of, sounds superb to me. The 5800 sounded excellent except for the top end, which, to me, sounded grainy. The iPod sounds much more open and natural. What I am trying to say is, if you replace the 5800, it shouldn't be too hard to beat it for SQ. HTH.

Really? How bout ipod with amp vs 5800 with amp? Which would sound better? I've read that the 5800 sounded better than ipod without amp.

Hiya, I would say that the 5800,with or without an amp, sounds better than an iPod without an amp.
I reckon that the headphone out of the iPod sounds so bad that I am amazed that most people seem happy with it.
The iPod with an amp and LOD, however, sounds far better than the 5800 IME.
By the way, do you know that if you choose the line out option on the 5800, rather than headphones, the volume is much greater? Some would say better SQ too but I reckon that is down to increased volume... HTH.

I know about that but at full volume, both LO and HO are the same. The LO however sounds kinda distorted. I'm not sure about that though.

How would the fuze sound compared to ipod? I bet with ipod and lod you also need a good amp? I kinda need it to be portable as I bring it everyday to school. I'm using 5800 with sony mdr-ex500lp right now.

I'm suprised about that. I thought LO went much higher than HO. I sold my 5800 so cannot check.

Never heard the Fuze. It has a better rep than the iPod on here IIRC. I am pretty happy with my iPlop. Needs an amp without question IMHO.

i have the 5800 and the IE8. i also have the latest ipod nano and an old ipod mini. i currently dont have any amps to pair along my portable sources. Ive tried listening to my IE8 with my 5800, ipod mini, ipod nano, even a nokia 5310. the 5800 has the best SQ among all my portable sources. TRY IT! you'll never regret! ^^

Hmmm.. I will. Haha so the 5800 sounds better than an ipod. I'm not crazy. Haha I tried my gf's ipod nano 1st gen and I think the 5800 sounds a lot better.

is the 5800 even more powerful than the ipod?
