Hearing Care of Carson City $10/ear
Hearing Care of Carson City charged $10 per ear. They didn't have a bite block but gave me a random object to bite down upon. The receptionist was extremely nice, helpful, and talkative. Mark, the audiologist, in contrast, was quiet and somewhat reluctant to answer questions. I'm not entirely sure about the quality of the impressions. Here's their info:

Contact for Beth Orliss

Hey daveDerek, is it possible to contact Dr Beth through e-mail? I am thinking of heading down to New York at the end of the year and get some ear impressions then. Mind sharing the price? Thanks!

Hello: I can be reached at: HearingDynamics@aol.com. The impressions are free if you order the product directly from me.
Dr. Beth Orliss: Free earmold impressions

$75... Ouch. I heard that doing it with Frances Miranda is free, provided that you order the JH13s through her. Does Dr Beth offer this? But then again probably not, as you would have done so.

Beth

A few years ago I went with a UE-recommended audiologist, and I had to provide quite a bit of coaching for the "pro" who made my impressions, and they were still botched the first and second tries.
Today I called a Westone-listed audiologist who was clue-free (but did quote me $150 for Westone ES3Xs, so perhaps I should do business).
My experience with customs has been that it's all about the quality and accuracy of the impressions.

Also, anyone have experience with
H.E.A.R.
1405 Lyon St.
San Francisco, CA 94115?
I saw them recommended by a Westone member of the trade., but it's a bit more expensive ($75) than the others I've seen.

Josh was very professional, I had a great experience. He was interested in the fairly new company that I'm going with (Fisher) and I'll be bringing these in for some free tests :)
I just spoke to a local audiologist and they wanted to know which company I was sending the molds to because, according to them, they need to give them special instructions. I think it's safe to assume this audiologist does not specialize in IEM's. They are a typical shop so I assume their focus is on hearing aids and hearing testing. Anyway can anyone think of anything special I need to tell them that would be specific to molding for IEM's?

I can say that Dr. Beth Orliss did a great job with my impressions. She was very meticulous and made sure she explained everything to me before hand. I'll post again when my custom buds come in from her impressions.
