D2, MediaMonkey, and tagging...I give up

I have searched here as well as the iAudio forums. There is also a guide stickied at iAudio that i read and re-read. I have tagged and retagged some sample songs and reset the D2+ I don't know how many times and I still can't figure it out.

The songs transfer over just fine, and are in the proper artists' folder, but they are alphabetized instead of in order of the album order.

Also, on the player screen, I get this....

(Green Circle Icon) RTIST=Cave In (this is the band name)
(Blue Person Icon) Cave In (still the band name but I would think it should be the album title)
(F inside of a square icon) Tides of Tomorrow (song title)

I have never had this much trouble figuring something out like this before. I'm sure (and hoping) it's a simple oversight on my part.

Does the file type matter? I've been re-ripping albums to FLAC since everything was in Apple format from before.

The circle icon is the CD title; the blue figure is the artist name; the music symbol (not a "F") is the track title.

I recommend downloading MP3Tag (great free tagger/renamer) and checking the tags. That "RTIST=" string is very odd. I've got a D2+ too; transfered a bunch of my songs from my old D2 to the D2+ and had no problems like that. The info displays just fine.

You can also try reloading the latest firmware, if the problem persists after checking the tags.

it's most definitely an F on mine. i tried taking a picture but it's too small.

i just got it from Amazon this week and it's loaded with 2.02 firmware. i haven't upgraded yet because i've been reading all the pros and cons of the different versions.

which do you recommend?

and thanks for the recommendation on the tagger. im gonna check that out.

Mine works just fine with 2.02. I recommend downloading MP3Tag and taking a closer look inside your files.
