Best Dancer Among Male Pop/Rock Singer-Dancers of All Time?

We consider only pop/rock singer-dancers and NOT, ballet dancers, etc.

For obvious reasons, we do not consider here Fred Astaire nor Elvis presley.

So who was /is the best Dancer among Pop/Rock Male Singer-Dancers ever:
James Joseph Brown, Michael Jackson, ....?

I've read that:
"Justin Timberlake achieved the closest dance prowess to Michael Jackson."

Post links to fabulous video clips featuring James Joseph Brown, Michael Jackson, dancing (and perhaps singing as weel).

uh.....Michael Jackson.......... I don't really even consider the other ones "dancers", they dance, but they're not dancers.

I was glad to see that you included Usher. I was not expecting that, but I immediately knew that's who I would nominate. I know Michael has way better technical prowess, but he's too stylized and flashy for me. Usher is so understated, cool and human. He's mesmerizing to watch.

MJ and James Brown are the only two answers I'll accept on that poll.

Of those it is a clear win for Michael Jackson imo.
An "other" option would have been nice though, as I can think of other dancers that rival or surpass him

I feel like Michael Jackson is where we begin to see that dancing is more important to an artist's career than singing while they still are predominantly marketed as a singer.....Today you go to a Britney concert for instance and you don't even hear live singing, but the dancing is essential.....

While I think Michael Jackson was an amazing artist, I still resent his contribution for this reason.....with Michael Jackson, the importance of dancing and the additional emphasis on music videos were escalated dramatically.....it's great for pop culture (maybe), it's terrible for music.

So while I voted for Michael Jackson (who was clearly the most technically capable dancer on this list), it is really James Brown who I'd rather watch........James Brown used dance to accompany the music, it feels like, starting with Thriller Michael Jackson used music to fit the dance.......and as someone who listens to music and does not care nearly as much for dancing.......I feel distant from Michael Jackson, a man who happened to one of the greatest singers of all time, but ultimately ruined his sincerity by becoming an industry and altering the entire industry.

Where are your video clips?

Where are your video clips?

By the way, I did not want the 'others' option
because some 'friendly ' head-fi'ers might be tempted to vote,
say, on Fred Astaire, or even Elvis, etc.

As I said, both of them are obviously missing for different reasons.
I chose Usher, Chris Brown, ... because they're close to our times.
Prince is also excellent.
There's no other pop/rock singer-dancer who can surpass
James Brown and Michael Jackson!?

The poll is not about 'who should be on the list' - it's about who's the best.
Please submit your candidates that you would put on your short list.
Of course some of them might be better than Usher, Chris Brown, ...
But none of them might, even conceivably,
can be than better James Brown and Michael Jackson. - Don't even try. Just forget it!

You may ask why only Seven options.
There are two reasons:

(1) All singer-dancerson the list are the Magnificent Seven! (Ha, ha, ....)

(2) More importantly because of 007 Agent (Your Favourite 007 Incarnation?)

What I have written, I have written.

Faithfully yours,
Adam

But, would you vote for him or anyone from the past?

Again and again, perhaps nobody from the past surpasses James Brown or Michael Jackson.

More powerful reasons why I used exactly Seven options:

- “And on the seventh day, he rested”. ....
- There are seven days in a week.
- The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
- Speaker system 7.1
- Rome was built on seven hills.
- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

-

Do I need to tell you more?

This thread is just asking to be swarmed by MJ...but Michael Jackson is the obvious answer here IMO
