Larger soundstage than what?
The K1000 is capable of reproducing a sound stage few or no other headphone can achieve (width, depth, ..), imo. But that does not say they come close to full size speakers, cause they do not.

I certainly recommend you give one a try if you get the option..

I found the HD800 and K1000s to be very equivalent in terms of detail retrieval. The K1000s have a much larger and deeper soundstage. The HD800s are more neutral. The K1000s have more of a treble boost and suffer from bass roll off. I think the HD800s are better in terms of overall performance. But for the purpose of pure listening enjoyment, I might still prefer the K1000s. With the K1000s, it's also fun to know that every new speaker amp provides an almost new pair of headphones.
