That's one helluva ding on the box.  I'm feeling your pain, man.  One of the first guys on this batch and some ape throws it.  I was smartass thinking "if I'd received a box like that, I'd have rejected it" but then, after 2 & a half years I also realized would've done exactly the same as you.  I want my BHSE but I don't want it busted.  I used to live near a courier depot in Hong Kong and I can tell you, these animals just throw everything. They would regularly chuck everything in a huge heap in the road and sort it from there.

Can you solder?  Ask Justin for a switch?

No problem soldering, but sending it back allows Justin to test everything and make sure nothing else's was damaged.

All right! It's set up, hooked up, warmed up and biased (my first time biasing an amp and I'm still alive!). I'm listening to music through the amp and headphones right now for the first time. It's simply gorgeous. I'm getting fantastic sound from this great piece of equipment and I believe this was the right choice for me.

I must say that I purchased it blind. There's no way to hear one in Canada before buying that I'm aware of. It took a leap of faith but it's so much better than I imagined. It has been years since I've listened to a pair of headphones but apparently I've been missing out on something very special.

What a fantastic product and I must say, given the sound quality, the design and the finish of this piece it's a bargain at twice the price.

Thank you Justin for making this an option for me. You have done some outstanding work. I could not be more pleased with the results.

Congrats!  What source/dac are you using with it? Where in Canada are you?

I envy you - for a couple more weeks that is :)

I'm using a Weiss DAC1 Mk3 FW as a source. It's rack mounted with all the home theatre equipment in another room about 25' away from my desk. I just purchased a Goldpoint XLR switcher to select either the Atma-Sphere amps in the music studio or the Blue Hawaii SE on my desk. I've still got to run some Mogami in the walls and add an XLR jack by my desk but once that's done I can listen without having 50' of cable on the floor.

I live in Ottawa, Ontario.

Gorgeous in blue, good choice, congratulations!

I did have one ordered in silver but at the last minute, and after seeing Justin's photography, I asked him if I could switch to blue. It is, after all, a Blue Hawaii amp and I love Hawaii so... why not?

I've been listening to this all day and it's just a great sounding amp. Well worth the wait folks. For those who don't have there's yet just hang on. You are in for a real treat!

How long did you have to wait ?

What does it sound like to you ?

Congratulations!  It is a nice amp.

I ordered mine on 02/27/2012 but that was simply the deposit payment. I picked the features and ultimately the colour at a later date. 05/12/2014 is when the final payment was made.

The sound is wonderfully transparent yet totally relaxed and natural. It sounds quite realistic to me in that every instrument sounds as it should. Every detail on the recording comes out clearly and it effortlessly reproduces the music. It apparently has limitless power with incredible bass response without being overpowering or overblown. This is quite clearly an amp I could live with forever. It's simply beautifully executed and the sound is truly remarkable.

Is it recommended/required to bias the amp before you use it the first time?
