It was a "moderate" difference to me. "Manageable" depends on tolerable volume levels, which can vary wildly from one person to another. If most women have extra sensitive hearing, the volume level might not be tolerable to a woman. The last month I had the OII/BHSE, I asked a girl I know to listen to the system and she couldn't tolerate any volume beyond the minimum. Everything beyond one step up from zero was too loud to her, and that was on the Pro jack.

If your wife wouldn't be opposed to the idea, I'd suggest taking her to the upcoming NYC-area meet where Justin will likely have his BHSE and you could probably test with a SR-007 and SR-009 which I'm sure will be there: http://www.head-fi.org/t/634922/official-ny-regional-spring-meet-april-20-2013

This is encouraging. You are right by saying that women generally prefer to listen to music at lower volume, but then the solution is simple, she uses the 007 and I keep the 009 when we listen togetherwink.gif. Somehow, I think now that we will be just fine. Thank you.

Hello Justin

I promised not to disturb you again until I get my BHSE, but I'm slightly scared by the recent posts dealing with the amp's output jacks... Some people seems to be inclined to complicate things by considering various combinations (bias, number of plugs...) Of course, they may have their own reasons to do so.

I confirm that my BHSE should have the two standard, five-pin pro output jacks -I won't be using something else than a SR009. Please reassure me in this respect.

Philippe

If you ordered a BHSE and did not specify the jacks to be different, it will come with 2 Pro outputs.

Justin, what were the XLR interconnects that you recommended me a while ago for the BHSE? I am sorry to ask again, but I just cannot find the post anymore. Thank you.

Actually, I am eagerly awaiting my BHSE and hoping it come by April.

I have an SRM-T1.  It has a balance issue.  My fantasy is that one side of the balanced circuitry on one channel is out.  'Anyone know where I can get a schematic for it?  (I was a EE, in a former life  !-)  I do plan to get it fixed after the BHSE allows me to live without it.

I will make you a confession too: I am also eagerly awaiting my BHSE and hoping it comes by April (although, somehow, I don't expect to receive it before sometime in June...).

The biasing instructions for these amps has posted too many times to count so just do a search for that.
