You'll probably want to use XLRs for the extra gain. 6db is pretty nice.

I am about to make a deposit for a BHSE and would like to know what kind of connectors most BHSE owners use, RCA or XLR? What difference does is make?

Many thanks.

PS. I'll be using a pair of Stax 007 and 009 with, as a source, a Bel Canto Dac 2.5

It'll go louder than you'll ever want to listen either way.

True.

Thank you, but what is the point of making it louder, if I suspect that I'll already have more than enough volume? I rarely go higher than 5 now with the Stax 323II amp I am using.

Eh. I'm just a fan of the connector too. Even if they were exactly the same I'd use XLRs.

And in the case of something like the Moon 310LP balanced gives you a blacker background, too.

Thanks everyone. I guess I'll have to read a little bit more about connectors.

Justin, I just made a deposit for the BHSE (my first name is Dominique). Could you please tell me whether I'll be part of the current batch? Thank you.

Thank you Justin. That is good news indeed. The bad news is that from now on I'll keep torturing myself trying to decide whether I want it black, or silver...rolleyes.gif

can't decide?  get that sexy grey!  (or blue, if you want to be one of the cool kids)

+1.  The gray BHSE is the nicest looking piece of equipment in my rack.  Reminds me of the anthracite gray on a BMW.

I might have considered the grey version had there been some decent photo's of it at the time - i.e. properly lit, showing the whole unit, and preferably with the black version along side.

Grey can look elegant or bland, depending on the exact shade and how that blends with the rest of the black enclosure. From subsequent posts, it sounds like it's on the "elegant" side.

As it happens, I'm delighted with the all-black version I eventually chose.

The front of all the audio equipment I have and what I'm getting is Silver, when I receive the two amps I've got on order, I'll post a photo which altogether including the amps PSU's will be eight.

All eight will be on my audio rack which I had custom made.

The BHSE on Headamp's site is the gray.

Mine came out looking the same as the picture.

I think the BHSE looks beautiful in any colour, but my preference is Silver.

I wonder if it made it in the "Best looking tube amp" list?
