What's your opinion on SQ of Iphone 3GS - Page 4

I would agree, unmodded ipod video loses to iphone 3g/s and like larry I feel unless IMOD/DIYMOD is amped well, iphone 3g/s is good enough to use by itself, also of course with pico slim the iphone sounds quite well and maintains its portability

I don't know if there's an official "Introduce yourself" thread. I'm Luis and quite a novice in the Head-Fi scene. I recently acquired a pair of ie8 IEMs and am looking forward to start with a good DAP unamped for the moment. I'm really interested in learning the art of perceiving sound and music(obviously).

Has anyone compared the upgrade 3GS with ios 4.1against pre ios 4 3GS? Does the sound change that much? I have a friend in town selling me his iPhone 3GS and I'm thinking of getting a cowon J3. Without taking into consideration the expandability of the J3 with microSD cards, how do they compare SQ wire unamped? I will be using a pair of ie8's BTW. Taking into consideration  the IEM's sound signature, which device could give me more detail and good balance of positioning vs. soundstage. IF there's a good deal of a difference between them.

I had a cowon and it sounded really good. I've read that the 3GS has the best headphone out so far.

The iPhone 3GS headphone out it's pretty remarkable imho. It just lacks some detail in the high end but overall sound it's impressive it almost sounds like any other dap amped..

It have not noticed any change in the sound since upgrading to iOS 4.Aside from the eq presets that is.

iPhone 3GS  + AIFF + Airplane mode + EQ off  + Ortofon E7  + Alison Krauss( forget about it ) =  Awesome sound and treble detail.

Beats iTouch 2 .
