Fiio e5 impressions... (Quick Review) - Page 2

I just got mine yesterday and have been listening to it here in the office with my monster turbin pro coppers...  The headphones have a really good low end - never had issues with bass.  I listen with my ipod touch and find that when I have the volume leveling on, sometimes its just a tad light volume wise... The E5 has definitely taken care of that issue - plenty of volume with leveling on.  When I put the bass boost on, almost too much bass...

The real reason I got the E5 was for running.  I've been on an odysee to find good running headphones.  The Bose E1 and E2's are good sounding and stay in my ears - issue is that since they aren't "in" my ears, the bass lacks and there isn't enough volume.  I think the E5 will help me with that and give me the extra boost I need... We will see.  8 miles tomorrow.  With the Coppers, I'm really not noticing a difference in the sound, but they are really good IEMs so I would have surprised had I noticed anything... I just got earmolds done for custom sleeves for the coppers through ACS.  I'm going to try running with the coppers, but the bang of my foot on the pavement will probably still be too annoying to work...

The E5 does make a difference with my SRH 840, when I tried to listen from the headphone jack of the ipod, I always kept coming back to the E5.

i ran with the E5 today.  I used my old Shure E4c's with custom molds... I had the bass boost up on the ipod itself as well as on the E5.. It sounded really good... the Shure's are real balanced and seem to bring out the mid and highs - the bass boost brought the bass I've been missing...  I'm really happy with the E5... Great purchase to use with many different phones...

Just got mine. It really helps to improve the recessed mids of the Triple.fi 10, yet it has plenty of power to drive my Sennheiser HD280s (they get loud enough from an iPod, but the bass is less powerful). Best of all: no hiss! Not even with my IEMs! IT's easily the best $20 I've ever spent biggrin.gif

using an LOD makes a substantial difference, especially if you're getting distortion with the iPod headphone out + E5. Turning on "sound check" helps alleviate this problem if you don't have an LOD, but you're still double-amping (kind of a no-no among audiophiles)
