i listen to audio lectures via my mobile phones internal speaker (ie not using an attached headset/phones), say by just putting it on the desk . i looking for recommendations please for a good quality mp3/mp4 player with internal speaker. with large memory preferably 32gb but less may be ok.
i was thinking of getting one of the top of the line x seies walkmans only to discover it has no internal speaker. as i dont know very much about mp3/mp4s i thought id ask the experts.

I can't think of a single DAP with a speaker... but phones that play audio files do. iPhone, T-Mobile G1, Palm Pre, etc.

Your best bet for what you want is to bring along a small portable speaker. There are many of these on the market. Some fold up to about the size of an iPod and just plug into the headphone jack. Just go into a local electronics shop and look around. They're cheap.

The iPod Touch 2G has a internal speaker. It's not too bad, but it does tend to distort at max volume.

i can think of one dap that had a speaker years ago, samsung k5. but largest is 4gb capacity w/no removable memory. i'd agree with dan1son to get a speaker and that'll be much easier. you might even wanna try these (Head-Direct.com | YUIN)

or get a blackberry and just get a large microsd card.

Some PDAs had internal speakers, but I don't think any of them sounded good (speaker or headphone out sound quality). My Palm Tungsten E2 sounded especially bad. Not sure if any PDA could support a 32 GB storage card either. Looks like your only realistic options are smartphones or an iPod Touch.

Look up ARCHOS 5/ARCHOS 7.
They use hard drives, not flash memory and can be alittle bulky and they're not exactly cheap either..

hey guys just discovered that the samsung p3 has a "mono" speaker. can anyone who owns one comment on the sound from the speaker, is it going to be any better or worse than the sound from a mobile phones speaker?

The 2G Touch has a speaker but isn't really... top notch. They don't really make DAPs with great speakers anymore....

You might want to change your strategy and look for a video player... like a small HDD one because those all have speakers in them; and just put your audio files on them.

Samsung P3?

It isn't very good with acoustic/instrumental music, but sounds decent on pop/rock/ mainstream tracks. Although I'd go with a Fiio portable speaker anyday over any built-in speakers.

for sound quality, better than low-end mobile phone and ipod touch 2nd gen, but the power is too low, so still not very good

Anyone have advice on a cheap, portable speaker, with a iPhone form factor?
