Just thought I should share with you guys...

I saw some really really good acts in the two smaller tents. Got front row seats too!

What I liked:
Steve Bernstein's Millenial Territory Orchestra-This was my absolute favorite. New Orleans style Jazz

The Rodriguez Brothers
James Carter Organ Trio-Really cool with the organ. Funky style jazz. I liked it a lot.

Anyways go here and you can download some of them if you'd like

I was just listening to a story about the Newport festivals on NPR today, interesting stuff (it was about Bob Dylan playing electric guitar and everyone going nuts because he was breaking convention). I think you posted in my 'Albums with a unifying theme' thread, so you know that I have a lot of listening to do, but I'll check those out. Festivals are great for discovering music that you wouldn't otherwise!

EDIT: Durr, just saw your link to the NPR site. Cheers!

Yeah that was me. I have a long way to go too.

Download Steve Bernstein's thing. They were the best. I got completely lost in the music during their set. So much fun! Unfortunately the recording doesn't capture it.

And yes festivals are awesome for discovering new music...I had never heard ANY of the songs played the entire day.

Hey-whats the scene like up there (age wise)?
Also, when does it go till?

Some friends and I have been talking about driving up there for years now but we never seem to get around to it. Toronto was another one on my list...
