what was the flavor of the month when you joined head-fi? - Page 2

As I recall all the talk was about the HD-600's and all of the new replacement cables. I wandered in looking for information on Ety's so I remember a lot about them as well.

i joint** here about a year after you and it was still like that
i think that people now are more aware that their opinion on headphones are very dependant on the system that feeds them - i think we won't see anymore threads like : "all grado products sucks!" anymore. well, i hope.

**:damn! i should have learned to know how to write it!
"joined", sorry

Audio Technica woodies and titanium cans.

The higher end AT cans... Way overhyped, the quality of sound IMO was not really all that great.

I agree with that. And I agree, it's a good thing.

In a way that's too bad though. There were some classic threads there.

All I can remember at this point when I joined was eggo warts and eggo bashing. I don't know what the "flavor of choice" was, I didn't know enough at that point to remember! Probably the 600's.

Eggos.

Now of course the CD3000's are the flavor of the month. But I wonder how long they will the 'flavor' for? It seems much longer.

When I first joined was the first or second day of the forums. Not enough time for a flavor of the month, but I think those early discussions centered around Senn 580/600 and Grado 225/325/RS-1.

I remember the HD580 being mentioned a lot when I joined. And the META42 was in high-style then too, and much more expensive than now.

Cant really remember what the flavour of th emonth was when i joined. I didnt know of such a concept back then, and I didnt originally plan to stick around this forum, as I never thought I would become as interested in headphones as I was in full size hifi. I am very interested in both, and strangely, people at the original audio forum I joined originally now believe I am the resident headphone expert I guess its just cos most of them lot dont bother with headphones that much - few of them probably realise that there is a headphone combination outside of HD580/600 X-Can

Oh yeah, I forgot. The Grado RA-1 was the poor man's choice. This narly-looking (IMO), blue faux-marbled Microzotl was all the rage with wealthy Head-fiers!

Is that thing still around...? I could always see myself having a few beers and getting up with my phones on sending this ($600?) itty-bitty Mighty Might crashing to the floor.
