Well I want to upgrade my JVC FX-33's. I went to Newegg and saw that both the JVC FX-66's and the JVC FXC50's are on sale. So, I'm wondering which is a better IEM.

Newegg.com - JVC HA-FX66B 3.5mm Gold-Plated Connector Canal Black Air-Cushion Headphone
Newegg.com - JVC HA-FXC50-R 3.5mm Gold-Plated Connector Canal Red High Quality In-Ear Headphone

I've always wanted to try the Soundmagic PL30's but I could never find them on a website that looked legit and didn't use Paypal.

I think Head-Direct has the PL30s and takes google checkout if you prefer. I've been meaning to get a pair of the FXC50's ($18.99 shipped on ebay) but just haven't bothered (yet). I have only seen one impression of them that descibed them as overly bright IIRC.

Don't know about the FX66, but I really wasn't impressed with the FX34 marshmallows. I think there are better options for the price (besides the PL30s), namely the Lenntek Sonix at costco (if you really like bass) and the Meelec AI-M9 at overstock.com (unbelievable detail/highs for the price), not to make the choice harder for you or anything.

Head-Direct is a legit site -- they are a Head-fi.org sponsor and people here buy from them frequently.

Ah I didn't even know that website existed. Google checkout should work fine.

I plan on ordering sometime tonight but I'm still not sure about which pair to get. I don't want to spend over $30 though.

I'm listening to my JVC HA-FXC50-B right now; it does sound a LOT better after maybe 70 hours of "burn in" with a lot less peaky treble. Using the largest size eartips JVC provides with this IEM, the isolation is quite good and the bass is very clear and tight--you'll probably need a very high-end IEM to get the type clear bass the HA-FXC50-B offers.

I've had the JVC FX66 before I bought the FXC50. For me, the FXC50 are much better : more detailed highs, cleaner bass and overall more accurate tonal balance. Comfort is top notch too and isolation great.

I paid 5,99$ CAN for the red ones, brand new, at Future Shop (the red color were on clearance sell)
