This was Sony's flagship DVD player several years back [Press release]. It has Sony's ES level build quality and a reputation for being a great transport for a separate DAC unit. This is the Japanese market version, which came in either titanium gray or champagne gold like this one and came with a home theater style table top remote. The USA version came in only black with a standard remote. It's in perfect condition and functions flawlessly.
I purchased this locally from a guy who worked for a company that tested electronics equipment like TV's and DVD players. The company let him keep many of the products so he had several of these units practically new in box in storage. That is why it is in like new condition even though this product was released some time ago.
It works great as a CD transport, but the analog outs are also good. It also features a headphone amp with volume control that isn't bad.
The faceplate moves down to reveal the CD tray and controls.

I also upgraded it by replacing the flimsy stock power cord with a thick 14 AWG power cord and heavy duty plug by recommendation from an audio dealer in this thread at Audio Circle who claimed it improved performance. The cord is nearly 6 ft.
Also since this DVD player was meant for the Japanese market, it is currently set up to play Region 2 DVDs. There is apparently a switch on the PCB to make it region free so it can play US Region 1 DVDs, but I never bothered to do that because I only used this as a cd transport for my DACs.
