Black Moth Super Rainbow?

Anyone else here listen to Black Moth Super Rainbow?

They're one of my favorite bands and they've got this awesome laid back old-school analog electronic sound with some nice almost hip-hop style beats behind it (pardon my gratuitous use of adjectives).

I love so many of their songs but I think if I had to pick a few to give you an idea of what they sound like I'd go with: Side 8, They Live in the Meadow, Zodiac Girls, and Jump Into My Mouth and Breathe the Stardust.

They're a little difficult to find on youtube and the likes but some of their stuff is there and they have some more of it on myspace.

Pretty big BMSR fan here, though for the last several months I've been digging Tobacco's solo project more. I wouldn't really call BMSR hip=hop... more like psychedelic/folk electronica. Tobacco definitely embraces the hip-hop side more.

Yeah, I caught a little bit of Tobacco at Bonnaroo and it was awesome. When I first heard him there I didn't even know he was part of BMSR and I remember thinking how cool it sounded.

Sounds interesting, whats the best album to start with?

I'd say Dandelion Gum or the album they did with The Octopus Project called The House of Apples and Eyeballs would be good starters.

They are definitely influenced by Zero 7 and Air. Just not nearly as good. They have potential, but need to vary their progressions more. All the songs sound extremely similar. I'd have to say Boards Of Canada are better, but Air and Zero 7 are still the champs.

I don't know, I like Zero 7, Air and Boards of Canada but I feel they have a completely different style that's not really comparable to BMSR. Boards of Canada has been one of my favorite groups for awhile though.

I don't see the similarity to Zero 7 or Air. I do see the similarity to BoC. I read a review which I read a while ago said (I think pretty accurately)

imagine what an impromptu collaboration between Boards of Canada and M83 might sound like, especially if it took place on a lazy hazy summer afternoon at the Elephant 6 collective's studio after someone brewed some strong [snip] tea.
