I have the columbia cd box set and that explains a lot. I have to listen "past" some of the sound quality issue I heard and just assumed that was as good as it got.
That didn't square with my memories of it as a kid from my dad's lp. It still sounded old, but better than these cds do.
Hmmm, off to trade these if I can......
