Isabellina HPA - Owner's Thread and Impressions - Page 7

I have noticed that a number of posters remarked on the positive feedback regarding the RWA Isabellina HPA. Truth be told, i can't think of a single negative thing to say about it at all. It really is hard to imagine Vinnie putting out a better version of the HPA for the price. The whole package is just spectacular in everyway.
Leave it to Vinnie for original thinking on his products using off the grid components allowing the purest possible sound without the coloration that comes with typical onboard power supplies.
I know that the HPA and all the rest of his products will contine to give Vinnie the exposure that he deserves. I am also looking forward to seeing whats in store for us in the future from Vinnie's BrainStormin'!

can you imagine the richness of tone with vinnies products and a discrete
phono stage and turntable(all off the grid )

Is there a High/Low gain setting on the headphone stage. I can hardly turn the volume up higher than 11'o clock, and I can hear some background noise when there is no music on.

Bredin, you like your music loud! I can't go past 9 o'clock w/ my RS-1 or HF2.

over 9'o clock on today's loudness recordings is impossible to withstand, but a good recording doesn't break for anything

Hi Bredin,

I see that you emailed me. I just returned from a trip to ALO and am catching up with emails - I'll respond shortly. Thanks for your patience.

Best regards,

Did anyone try the Isabellina HPA with PS1000 or GS1000? If so, how's the synergy between the two? I'm very interested in this amp/dac

Hi DC5Zilla,

I have an Isabellina HPA customer who owns the PS1000s. He emailed me this so far:

plenty of detail, it was warm and very good soundstage. Of course it has the signature non fatiguing sound of everything Red Wine has produced. IMO, the amp and phone were an excellent match. I will be out of town tonight, but when I get back to tomorrow I will plug the PS1000s back in and try and give a better discrpition of what I am hearing.
I'll try to post updates when I receive them...

Regarding the Isabellina HPA and the PS1000s, this is from my Isabellina HPA customer (who posts on audiocircle.com as "Afterimage":

Simply, it is an outstanding combination and I can't see how anyone wouldn't be less than thrilled with the combo. With that said, I have not heard everything out there but still, it is hard for me to imagine a setup that would make someone more satisfied with their music playback than this combo.
I hope to hear this combo for myself soon!

So I will throw in my 2 cents. I've been burning in my HPA for about 200 hours now, and in short, really love it!! I'm using with Mac with playback via iTunes + Amarra. Revelation Audio Cryo USB cable. HD800's and will receive a pair of MarkL LA7000's any day now and look forward to that pairing as well. The sound is really great with the HD800's, and that's with the stock cable. I was about to send the HD800's back for giving me migranes, but after using the HPA I am now able to listen for a long time without getting a headache (here I thought it was the weight of the headphone and in hindsight it was more likely the fatigue from the sibilance the prior setup was generating, which includes a couple big name DAC's). Big evolution in the HPA over the 200 hours, and really love the sound. Great detail, extension, imaging, musicality, silent background, analog sound, absolutely LOVE female vocals on this unit. My wife wonders now why I've been building up a hifi system in our living room after listening (!!). Have been listening to 16/44 WAV files (ripped with EAC and stored on SSD), but have a bunch of high res files I'm planning to give it a run on (recognizing it will play 16 bit, but lock into 88/96/176/192) - will do this via my Weiss DAC2 (firewire from Mac; SPDIF to HPA). Another interesting USB option to take it to 96k, and to a new level of USB performance may be the upcoming Async USB adapter that Wavelength audio will be launching at RMAF next month. I don't know how much it will cost, but if reasonable could be a fantastic add-on.

Congrats Vinnie on a great product.... you've got me very tempted to upgrade to the full meal deal.... ) love being off the grid!

Welcome to the club silverlight. Im glad you like it with your Hd800. I am also enjoying the hd800 on mine and just like you, I should be receiving my la7000 probably next week hopefully. Enjoy.
P.S. Youll have to let me know how the la7000 sound if you get then before I get mine. I know my d7000 were awesome with the isabellina and so I have high hopes for the la7000.
