Help needed! Yamaha HTR-5830 + X-fi

Hello ppl! Need a bit of help here... I play a lot of COD4 and positional audio is VERY important to me. I own Sennheiser PC-350 and a little cmoy amp which I hooked up to my X-fi titanium fatal1ty pro. The sound was pretty good and I was satisfied untill I took my yamaha htr-5830 receiver from my livingroom and connected it via optical cable to x-fi. OMG, I was amazed.. I mean god damn, now that's what I call a change in sound; the soundstage, the clarity of sound the...everything is so much better and to think I could have had all that one year ago when I bought it... ahh never mind. Ok, now I got a full spectrum of new effects and options for my sound, and also somthing called SILENT CINEMA. So, I was reading about this and I don't get one thing: do I set x-fi to 5.1 sound or stereo for the silent cinema to work properly??

This is what they say on their site:"All of the Yamaha receiver models have a feature called “Silent Cinema." This mode allows private listening enjoyment of multi-channel music or movie sound, including Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround, through ordinary headphones! Simply plug in your headphones to enjoy your multi-channel experience right away"
As I understand, it uses 5.1 to mix it to some kind stereo 5.1 emulation or something for stereo headphones, i'm not very good with this audio stuff (not yet ), I just pwn noobs.
So, if someone with expirience would be so kind to educate me or give me some good advice to improve even more positional audio with these components, I would be very gratefull!

Thank you, thank you

Most likely 5.1, digital out enabled, external Dolby Digital/DTS decoder. But the X-Fi does not pass EAX processed audio through digital out.

Are you sure? I thought the Auzentech xfi got problems with that, but the xfi should be fine..

Well, we'll find that out in about 2h. I'm gonna play some battlefield 2142 and then know for sure.

Yes it does. Auzentech prelude does not.
