New Grado GR8 In-Ear Earphones! - Page 3

post #31 of 148
So why have we not seen any reviews yet? I would think that grado would have sent out review pairs....

Eagerly waiting for impressions.

Woah, 120 Ohm impedance? Whatever happened to their signature 32 Ohms?

TMA has tried to get our hands on these for review, but no reply with their email.

update from Michael from sound earphones;

The new GR8's are made in Japan. The low end iGi which is off the line of the iGrado is made in China.

Raised dot on left earphone provides tactile indication of channel allowing earphones to be put on correctly even in the dark.
Or a defect from a cheap outsourced manufacturer.

I wonder what plant these are made at / whos making them? Do they make other IEMs? At first I was really excited but bow I'm just concerned, I did not expect these to be made over seas.

Sure, and I find the fact they're made in Japan a better option than China, but a completely out-sourced Grado product? I'm curious as to what makes it special vs what has to be a plant that makes other IEM products? (Currently we're unaware as to Grado buying a manufacturing setup in Japan, so just assuming this is a badge to some extend). I want Grado to make a killer IEM so I can get a pair for portable listening, but given the unknowns and utter surprise of this product I'm feeling gun shy :\

Thanks for the info Michael.

I'm curious how Grado is going to prevent a world wide roll out of their IEMs that are manufactured in China....

WHOA. Didn't see this one coming. :P

Interesting... I thought grados were made in USA.

iGrado is made in China with the SR60 driver, so is the iGi. The Gr8 is made in Japan, which i'm thinking is it made by the same Japanese manufactuer that makes the Creative EP-630's drivers and housing....hmmmmm

I've hear that the iGrados were pretty shi*ty. I hope this isn't the case with the gr8. I hope to hear a review pretty soon, because I have my brand new shure SE530 replacements coming in, and I might putthem up for sale to finance the gr8. For $300 IEMs I'd hope they sound comparable to the 325is. What's the return policy on the GR8 IEMs if they disappoint?

Michael M, what's the latest and greatest on the GR8. Any new news? Have you received the demo pair yet? I'm dying to find out! I'm holding off on my IEM purchase for the GR8 review!

I am an owner of the Shure Se530s and I love them but am learning that there is better out there. Im specifically looking at getting the UM3X by Westone, Im waiting for the reviews or impressions of the GR8 to come out to make my final decision, like foofighters is.
